The Electric Universe 2012 Conference will have the theme The Human Story. It proposes answers to:

“Why is the corona of the sun far hotter than the sun’s surface? Why do comets produce bright comas and tails even when their surfaces reveal no sublimating ices? Why do seeds, when subjected to electrostatic fields, suddenly produce biological forms not seen in hundreds of thousands of years? Read more

Nuclear Reader notices breakthrough energy

The potential for breakthrough energy inventions to replace polluting power plants is acknowledged in a new publication.

A group of environmentally-conscious researchers, Voices for Safe Energy, recently prepared a Nuclear Reader. Their online book has no copyright; the group who compiled the vital information “with the vision of security and health for us all” invites you to share it widely.

Topics covered range from the health hazards of low level radioactivity (there is no safe dose), and why nuclear power is bad business, to depleted uranium and the lack of a plan for long term storage of radioactive waste.

I’ll quote from the chapter that most closely ties in with this blog: Toward Clean Energy. “….In searching for new clean energy, some inventors have found that space is filled with motion  – the quantum fluctuations within the atom and the stars -  and that this energy could be converted into electricity.” Read more

Thrive – film premiere, month from now

One month from now is 11-11-11 and the date that the documentary Thrive will be released.

The film’s trailer evokes memories. It’s been a few years since Nassim Haramein, over lunch in Ashland, Oregon, invited me to visit a temporary film studio set up in the nearby town of Medford where his part of the forthcoming movie was to be filmed, and to meet the visionary who was directing the project — Foster Gamble.

In that cavernous studio the next day, I had a premonition that the project would be a world-changer. Much more to it than just money going toward creating a top-quality production; you could also sense that it was a labor of love. Read more

Free the energy, peacefully

Irony and humor succeed. A protest sign at the Santa Fe “99 percenters” demonstration read: “I’ll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one.”

A cartoon I drew about 25 years ago, shown here, was done in a more innocent era. Today, agents provocateur and corporate-biased media make it more difficult to get across one’s message via marching down a street.

Members of my family were in a protest march in London this year, half a world away, and I watched the news –scenes of vandalism and mayhem. I was horrified, but later was told “we safely marched along with 100,000 other parents, kids and elders. Walked past those rioters — they numbered only about 80.”

Why did I expect TV news to mention the 100,000 who were law-abiding?

Anyway, take care and be on guard against induced anger in a crowd situation. My last words on the topic are platitudes but heartfelt: the human spirit is stronger than the potential dangers of speaking your truth. And peaceful is powerful.
