Ambrose Lane interviews Breakthrough Power author

Knowing I’ll be interviewed for a radio program early the next morning instills a certain anxiety – can I depend on the alarm clock? It cooperated nicely this morning before the Ambrose Lane show, on WPFW, 89.3 FM in Washington DC, phoned.

The callers to the show really “get it” that people on fixed incomes and the dispossessed and indigenous peoples of Earth should have access to low-cost clean energy. (more…)

World People’s Conference coming, in Bolivia

A ‘World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth’ is scheduled for Cochabamba, Bolivia, on April 19 to 22, 2010. Been meaning to visit friends at the Blue Energy facility south of Vancouver, so I tonight started with a virtual visit. They’ve renovated their website at http://www.bluenergy.com/
Inspired by the immensity of untapped power in rip tides and other ocean currents, Martin Burger founded the company in 1990 and collaborated with a brilliant inventor-aerospace engineer, the late Barry Davis, to develop and promote the Davis Hydro Turbine. better paths than Bloom tech

An engineer friend who has known about the Bloom Box fuel cells for a long time reminds us that the units run on natural gas or propane and are less than 50% efficient (they run very hot), use oxygen from the air and release CO2 among other things.

He says that despite the hype, Bloom Boxes are far from the goals of freedom from fossil fuels (more…)

The Bloom Box inventor from India is closer to the reality of how most people in the world live, therefore he isn’t just focused on becoming wealthy. He intends to power villages with cheaper, clean electricity.

Bloom-ing Power from Bloom Energy

Progress is good, even if it’s only a dramatic reduction in how much carbon fuel it takes to generate electricity. So even though there are better, fuel-less, inventions, sidelined and remaining unfunded, I welcome the news today about the Bloom Box invented by K.R. Sridhar. He has a great attitude toward sharing it with all the peoples of our world. Looking forward to hearing more on Wednesday when Bloom Energy goes public; the “60 Minutes” television program tonight only gave a preview.

After uprooting my home office and relocating yet again, I’m back in time to wish a belated happy new year to you.
The gifts hidden in this time of unsettling changes are the opportunities for personal spiritual growth/unfoldment and for societal transformation. Sounds too woo-woo? I’ll bet you’ll see it differently a year from now.
Returning to my usual topics, my New Year’s resolution is to blog regularly about what’s happening in the global “new energy” scene. (My friend Michael won’t believe that until he sees me stick to my resolution week after week for months at a time.)
